Alberta Clearwater Knap-In
July 6th - 10th
Host - Russell Thornberry

The Alberta Knap-In will be held July 6th - 10th at the Clearwater College campus located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, near Caroline, Alberta.

The 2017 Alberta Knap-In has changed locations for 2017 from the Historic Site near Rocky Mountain House to the beautiful campus of Clearwater College 22 miles south of Rocky Mountain House. The reason for the location change is that 2017 is the 150th Birthday of Canada and the Historic Site festivities will attract so many people that there would be no place for us to park trailers, tents etc. However, the location of Clearwater College, as the name implies, is bordered by the gorgeous Clearwater River on a campus that is ideal for our knap-in.

Clearwater College is 80 acres of pristine timberland with facilities for trailers or campers or tenting. Trailer spaces are available with or without water hook-ups as well as sewage dumps. The schedule below describes the very moderate prices for all of the above.

The college will provide two tent shelters as well as a covered gazebo and a large camp shelter where we can knap if we get rain. The camp shelter is also perfect for nightly campfires, as is the shoreline of the Clearwater River, which is a stone’s throw away within easy walking distance. There are men’s and women’s washrooms within easy reach of the campsites.

For those of you who want to find the location of Clearwater College, it is 11 kilometers west of the little town of Caroline, Alberta. If you plan on attending please let me know ASAP so I can secure your desired camping facilities. I hope to see familiar faces in July and be sure and let your fellow knappers know about this event. Happy New Year to you all. See you in July!
